Relationship Literacy

Students

Congratulations!  You are part of a quickly growing network of schools and programs that are experiencing Relationship Literacy!  We can’t thank you enough for your participation in our pilot program.

We hope that the brief time you have with our pilot program will be a rewarding endeavor.  It is our aim that Relationship Literacy will begin to take shape in their personal lives and in the life of your school.
In order to make this program a success, we need your focus, energy and honest response to the program we are offering.   Although this curriculum has been in development for over 10 years, we are launching it for the first time as an online program.  We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your contribution to Relationship Literacy and hope you find this pilot to be fun and exciting. Thanks so much for allowing us the opportunity to work with you!

Purpose of the Relationship Literacy for Schools Pilot Program

As with any new adventure, especially when it comes to technology, it is important to make sure that all systems are working the way they should.  And with Relationship Literacy, that couldn’t be closer to the TRUTH!!  This program has been developed over ten years, but is now online for the first time.  We not only want to make sure that our online program is user- friendly, but that you respond well to our content.  We want you to benefit from Relationship Literacy and our goal to teach kids just like you how to build healthy relationships.

How the Pilot Works

  • You will be enrolled in our pilot through your school.
  • Schools will work with REL staff to create a schedule that won’t get in the way of your regular academic programming.
  • The goal is to have each school participate in both versions each consisting of (2) two 30-minute lessons and one 15-minute feedback session.  However, the length of time you will participate in the pilot will all be coordinated with your teachers, parents and administrators.

Student Requirements throughout the Pilot

  • You will participate in our online program through either/both a facilitated or non-facilitated version of our curriculum.
  • After, you will be guided through a set of activities that will principles in the Managing Healthy Relationships or Unit of our program.
  • At the end of the pilot, you will be asked to participate in an 15-minute survey responding to the program -- its appeal, user-friendliness, and impact on your personal environment.
  • Although future opportunities may arise for students to be featured in web and print publications, your identities WILL be kept confidential and securely kept only for our records.

Your Role as a Student During and After the Pilot

  • Give your full undivided attention and energy to your involvement in this program.
  • Talk to your parents and others around you about your experience with our program. Have discussions about your thoughts and feeling about the concepts and principles outlined .
  • Take pride in your vital importance to us as we continue to develop Relationship Literacy in every aspect.  Understand that you are a part of something that is a growing, nationwide project.  This is a very valuable service you are providing not to just your school, but to your nation.
  • Stay connected with us through our newsletter to receive updates on how we are growing and what new opportunities we have for students and adults to connect with relationship literacy.
